Radiation-free, non-invasive photoacoustic imaging (PAI) system visualizes the structure and function of the microvascular network
The Luxonus Photoacoustic 3D imaging scanner is unique in that it uses laser light as the transmitter and ultrasound as the receiver. The resulting image resolution of scanned blood vessels is extremely high and better than with typical current imaging methods such as MRI, CT or Ultrasound. The ability to display and differentiate between arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels and being non-invasive and without radiation or the need for any harmful contrast agents is highly attractive. Depending on the area of interest, the scans can be performed in real-time or within just a few minutes and are not operator dependent.
